Hines, Francis X. , age 68, of Rotonda West, FL, formerly of Millis and Harwich Port, who died on Wednesday, April 22, 2009.

Born on November 23, 1940, a son of he late Gerard M. and Catherine F. (Brown) Hines, he was raised and educated in Hyde Park. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1958 and that November married his wife Millie. During his service he was stationed at Goldsboro, NC, Yokota, Japan, Tampa, FL, and Iceland.

Frank settled in Millis where he spent three years with the Millis Police Department. He was later employed with the U.S. Postal Service and retired after a twenty seven year career. He had remained busy as a maintenance man at Sunburst Condos on Manasota Key in Florida.

A 32 year Communicant at St. Thomas the Apostle Church and former sexton at the Church of Christ, Millis, Frank was also a member of the Boggastow Fish and Game Club and Amvets Post 495 in Millis, and the National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 156, Foxboro. In Florida he had active with the Rotonda West American Legion Post 113 and Elks Lodge 2710. He had a zest for life, a warm loving smile, and a caring heart. He had a passion for his family, boating, and golf.

He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Mildred (Jones) Hines, a son; Francis X. Hines, Jr. and wife Jeanne of Lynnfield, two daughters; Dawn Marie Rich and husband Douglas of Kennesaw, GA, and Lori Jeanne Connolly and husband Robert of Norfolk, nine grandchildren; Sara Connolly Joyce and husband Sean of Franklin, Ryan Connolly and Tyler Connolly of Norfolk, Katie Rich, Carly Rich, and Trevor Rich of Kennesaw, GA, Francis Hines III, Samuel Hines, and Benjamin Hines of Lynnfield, a great-granddaughter, Callie Jeanne Joyce of Franklin, two brothers, Gerard Hines and wife Clara of Melbourne, FL, and Jack Hines and wife Kathy of Mansfield, two sisters, Karen Moran and husband James of Mansfield, and Mary Alexander of Covington, GA, and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis, on Saturday, June 13th at 12:00 noon. Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Service of Millis is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
