Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Timothy D. and Mary Gillespie) Manning and was raised in Boston and educated at the Boston Latin Boys School. Formerly of Boston, Mr. Manning was a retired Marketing Representative from CIGNA, Insurance, where he had been employed for 45 years. A devoted husband and father, his sense of humor was evident right up to his last days. He enjoyed sports, especially the Patriots and Red Sox. He also enjoyed working in his yard, it has been said he had the greenest lawns in Millis. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Jean A. (Callahan) Manning, he is survived by a daughter Judith A. Manning of Bellingham, a son Michael C. Day of Millis, and 2 sisters Helen F. Manning of Dover and Norma L. Connolly of Westwood. He was also predeceased by 3 brothers, Edward, John and Kenneth Manning and 2 sisters Rita and Doris Manning. Relatives and friends may gather Wednesday, October 21st at 9AM at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 90 Curve Street, Millis for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church at 10AM. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Millis. Funeral home visiting hours will be Tuesday, October 20th from 4:00 to 7:00PM.
