Bouin, Margaret Claire (Sproul), age 82, a long time resident of Medfield, died on Monday morning, June 29, 2009, at Caritas Norwood Hospital.
Born in Boston on March 13, 1927, she was the only daughter of James A. and Margaret L. (White) Sproul. She moved to Medfield as a child and was a graduate of Medfield High School. She married Maurice P. Bouin in 1947, and the couple built a home and raised their family in Medfield and enjoyed many happy summers in Plymouth, MA, and York, ME.
Mrs. Bouin was fond of raising Alaskan Malamutes and had been a longtime active member of the American Kennel Club, previously holding executive positions with the local chapter. She enjoyed the world-wide web and had a large circle of on-line friends.
Predeceased by her daughter, Claire M. Garney, she is survived by her husband, two sons, James C. Bouin of San Diego, CA, and Paul C. Bouin of Medfield, a son-in-law, David Garney of North Easton, a brother, James A. Sproul and his wife Hope of Medfield, and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of Robert Sproul, who was killed in action during World War II, and the late William J. Sproul and Ralph J. Sproul.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street, Medfield, on Monday, July 6th at 10:00a.m. Burial at Vine Lake Cemetery will follow.
Visiting hours will be at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, Sunday 2 – 5p.m.

Colvin, Constance Racicot, age 56, a longtime resident of Medfield, died Sunday morning, June 28, 2009, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a long illness.
Born and raised in New Bedford, she was a daughter of Susanne (LaRue) Racicot of New Bedford and the late Maurice Racicot. Connie was a 1971 graduate of Bishop Stang High School and completed her undergraduate degree at Stonehill College. She earned a Master of Business Administration at Babson College.
Connie married in 1979 and settled in Medfield. She was employed for many years with Texas Instruments as a materials planner and most recently had enjoyed a career as a web designer with Brooktrout Technologies of Needham. She was fond of visiting Lake Champlain with family and friends and counted boating, cooking and knitting among her favorite pastimes.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Lawrence R. Colvin, a daughter, Lindsay R. Colvin of Medfield, two stepdaughters, Sara Buffington and husband Tom of Deerfield, NH, and Stephanie Hill and husband Craig of Herndon, VA, a brother, Philip Racicot and wife Kim of Norfolk, two sisters, Corinne Racicot and husband Jack Barry of Franklin, and Julie Bell and husband Dennis of Norfolk, and two step-grandchildren, Connor and Hannah Buffington.
A memorial service will be held at the United Church of Christ, 496 Main Street (Rte. 109), Medfield, on Tuesday, July 7th at 11:00a.m. Burial will be private.

Park, L. Darrow, age 85, a longtime resident of Scituate, died early Saturday morning, June 20, 2009, at his home after a long illness.
Born and raised in Medfield, he was a son of the late Dr. Harry L. Park and Marjory (Darrow) Park. He attended Medfield schools, Wilbraham Academy and Norwich University. He settled in Scituate in 1947 after having served with Army Air Corps during World War II.
Darrow had been employed as an Inspector for the New Haven Railroad until it closed. He thereafter worked as a Quality Control Manager and Chief Inspector. A quiet man whose life was centered on his home and family, Darrow also had a life long love of railroads and enjoyed an extensive railroad library.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gwendolen (Carr) Park, a daughter, Carolyn Park Kleine and husband Stephen Lee Kleine of Scituate, two granddaughters, Heather Park Letendre and husband John Letendre of Shrewsbury, and Melissa Ann Paradice of Quincy, a grandson, David Park Paradice of Scituate, and a sister, Marilyn Park Davidson of Chesterfield. He was predeceased by his son, Richard Darrow Park in 1995, and recently by a brother, Arthur Mitchell Park.
His funeral will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Thursday, June 25th at 12:00 noon. Burial with military honors will follow at Vine Lake Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 11:00a.m. – 12:00noon.

Schmidt, Laura (Slesienski), age 63, a longtime resident of Medfield, died suddenly on Thursday, June 18, 2009, at Caritas Norwood Hospital.
Born, raised and educated in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Sophie Slesienski. She had been employed as a secretary at Manufacturers Hanover Trust in Manhattan at the time of her 1966 marriage to Edward A. Schmidt. The couple settled in Medfield a year later.
Laura made a home for her family while working part-time as a bookkeeper. Afterwards, she had been active as a volunteer with St. Edward the Confessor Parish in addition to being employed for many years as the administrative assistant for the Religious Education program. Laura was a founding member of the Medfield Women’s Soccer Team and played for eighteen years. She was also an avid knitter, enjoyed cooking, and doted on her three cats, known affectionately as “the girls.”
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Melissa A. Stephens, son-in-law Paul, and grandson Jack, all of Los Angeles, CA, and a brother, Robert Slesienski of Vermont.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street, Medfield, Wednesday June 24th at 10:00a.m. Burial will be private.
Visiting hours will be at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, Tuesday 7 – 9p.m.

Park, Arthur Mitchell, age 83, a resident of Medfield, died on Wednesday morning, June 10, 2009, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a brief illness.
Born on April 19, 1926, he was a son of the late Medfield physician Harry L. Park and his wife Marjory L. (Darrow) Park. Arthur was raised and educated in Medfield, and as a child he loved to interact with the engineers on the trains which stopped behind his home. His fascination grew and he became well versed in railroad history. The country entered World War II while Arthur was in high school and by 1944 he had left Medfield to serve with the Navy. His sister received his Medfield High School diploma at commencement in his stead.
After the war, Arthur worked for many years with the Navajo people at the Ganado Presbyterian Missions in Arizona. He came to appreciate Navajo music and his enthusiasm for listening to recordings collected during his time at Ganado never waned throughout his life.
Arthur returned to Medfield in the 1960s and was employed with Babson College. He married the love of his life, Priscilla M. (Cheney) Park on June 28, 1969. He followed the tradition of generations of his family in being an active member of the Medfield United Church of Christ where he played the organ. He and Priscilla enjoyed forty wonderful years together at their home, the former Cheney homestead.
In addition to his wife, Arthur is survived by a brother, L. Darrow Park and his wife Gwendolen of North Scituate, a sister, Marilyn “Tish” Park Davidson of Chesterfield, and many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his step-mother, Elinor H. (Stinson) Woodbine Park, in 2007.
His funeral service will be held at the United Church of Christ, 496 Main Street, Medfield, on Friday, June 19th at 11:00a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Vine Lake Cemetery.

Gannon, Prof. Vincent H., age 85, of Millis, died on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at the Epoch Senior Health Center, Chestnut Hill, after a long illness. Born in Framingham, the son of the late Joseph I. and Annie (Ryan) Gannon, he grew up in Millis and graduated from Millis High School in 1941. He was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
Mr. Gannon served in the Army during World War II, studying at Georgetown and Catholic University before being sent to combat in Europe with the 406th Regiment of the 102nd (Ozark) Infantry Division. He drove for the Red Ball Express before serving on the front lines near Aachen. He was wounded in action in 1944 and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal. Before his discharge in 1946, he played trumpet with the Air Force Band in Paris and Wiesbaden.
After his military service Mr. Gannon earned degrees at Boston University and Harvard before teaching at Framingham State College and Bridgewater State College from 1958 until his retirement in 1989. He formed and directed the Bridgewater State College Big Band.
Mr. Gannon had been State Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and Commander of the Tri-Valley Chapter 1885 in Millis. He was a Past Commander of the American Legion Post 208 in Millis and had volunteered at the VA Hospital in West Roxbury for several years. Mr. Gannon was a member of the Millis Historical Society and the Massachusetts Trustees of Reservations. Among his many interests he enjoyed playing trumpet and valve trombone, reading, and sailing on Buzzards Bay.
He is survived by a sister, Joanne M. Gannon of Millis, several cousins, and many faithful friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis, on Wednesday, June 10th at 11:00a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Hines, Francis X., age 68, of Rotonda West, FL, formerly of Millis and Harwich Port, who died on Wednesday, April 22, 2009.
Born on November 23, 1940, a son of he late Gerard M. and Catherine F. (Brown) Hines, he was raised and educated in Hyde Park. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1958 and that November married his wife Millie. During his service he was stationed at Goldsboro, NC, Yokota, Japan, Tampa, FL, and Iceland.
Frank settled in Millis where he spent three years with the Millis Police Department. He was later employed with the U.S. Postal Service and retired after a twenty seven year career. He had remained busy as a maintenance man at Sunburst Condos on Manasota Key in Florida.
A 32 year Communicant at St. Thomas the Apostle Church and former sexton at the Church of Christ, Millis, Frank was also a member of the Boggastow Fish and Game Club and Amvets Post 495 in Millis, and the National Association of Letter Carriers, Branch 156, Foxboro. In Florida he had active with the Rotonda West American Legion Post 113 and Elks Lodge 2710. He had a zest for life, a warm loving smile, and a caring heart. He had a passion for his family, boating, and golf.
He is survived by his wife of fifty years, Mildred (Jones) Hines, a son; Francis X. Hines, Jr. and wife Jeanne of Lynnfield, two daughters; Dawn Marie Rich and husband Douglas of Kennesaw, GA, and Lori Jeanne Connolly and husband Robert of Norfolk, nine grandchildren; Sara Connolly Joyce and husband Sean of Franklin, Ryan Connolly and Tyler Connolly of Norfolk, Katie Rich, Carly Rich, and Trevor Rich of Kennesaw, GA, Francis Hines III, Samuel Hines, and Benjamin Hines of Lynnfield, a great-granddaughter, Callie Jeanne Joyce of Franklin, two brothers, Gerard Hines and wife Clara of Melbourne, FL, and Jack Hines and wife Kathy of Mansfield, two sisters, Karen Moran and husband James of Mansfield, and Mary Alexander of Covington, GA, and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis, on Saturday, June 13th at 12:00 noon. Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Service of Millis is assisting the family with arrangements.

DesRoches, Gladys Ellen (Smith), age 51, a former Millis resident, died on Wednesday evening, May 27, 2009, at her Norwood home.
Born in Natick on August 28, 1957, she was a daughter of Audrey (Heustis) Smith of Milford and the late Philip H. Smith, Sr. She was raised in Millis and was a 1977 graduate of Millis High School.
Gladys had been employed as a packager with Siemen’s Medical Solutions of Walpole, formerly Corning Medical, for the past 21 years. She had lived in Westwood for ten years prior to settling in Norwood three years ago. Gladys enjoyed doting on her cats and kept a large stuffed animal collection.
Beloved wife of the late Robert DesRoches, she is also survived by a sister, Rachel Lavin and her husband James of Franklin, three brothers, Philip H. Smith, Jr. and wife Bonnie of Millis, Warren Smith of Mansfield, and twin brother George D. Smith and wife Carlene of Proctor, VT, and six nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are welcome to gather at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Saturday, June 6th at 9:00a.m. for a service of reflection to be held at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at New Westwood Cemetery in Westwood.

Lindblad, Carolyn F. (Grenci), age 91, a resident of Medfield for the past fifty years, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, May 29, 2009, after a brief illness.
Born, raised, and educated in Peekskill, NY, she was a daughter of the late Frances M. and Bruno M. Grenci, Sr. Carolyn had attended Ladycliff College in Highland Falls, NY, and Columbia University in New York City prior to earning a degree in elementary education from Mills College, also in New York City.
Carolyn married Chester W. Lindblad in 1942, and the couple made a home for their family in Winterport, ME, for many years. The Lindblads settled in Medfield in 1959. Carolyn is remembered as a devoted wife and mother who greatly enjoyed cooking, crafts, and her pets.
Predeceased by her husband in 1991, she is survived by two sons, Jeffrey S. Lindblad of Pocasset, and Ronald E. Lindblad and his wife Judith of Westwood, and one sister, Evelyn G. Wing of Orono, ME.
A graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery, 1033 Oregon Road, Peekskill, NY, on Tuesday, June 2nd at 1:00p.m.

Andonian, Violet, age 88, a resident at Windemere Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oak Bluffs, died Wednesday afternoon, May 27, 2009, at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital.
Born in Sepastia, Armenia, on August 16, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Eknadios and Yhugaper Andonian. She was a longtime resident of Hartford, CT, and spent her later years in Massachusetts, first in Millis and later in Franklin. In 2005, she moved to Martha’s Vineyard.
Violet was a loving, kind, and creative individual who loved music, dance, and painting. During World War II, she worked for Hamilton Propeller Aircraft as a drill press operator. She was later employed as a copy holder with Connecticut Printers in Bloomfield, CT.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Shenorhek Hagopian, Haig Andonian, and Aghavni Maranjian and is survived by three nieces, Alice Hagopian and Anoush Dekmejian of Glendale, CA, and Olga Maranjian Church of Edgartown, and three nephews, Arthur Maranjian of Fort Collins, CO, Hrair Dekmejian of Glendale, CA, and Ronald Trenouth of East Falmouth. She is also mourned by many grandnieces and nephews as well as relatives and friends in California, Ohio, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.
Private funeral services were held in Nashua, NH, on May 30th with the Reverend Khachador Kasabian officiating. Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Service of Medfield and Millis assisted the family with arrangements.

Mannarino, Madeline, age 87, a resident of Franklin since 1998, died suddenly on Sunday evening, May 17, 2009, at Caritas Norwood Hospital.
Born in Bessemer, Alabama, on October 20, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Saverio and Michelina Stabile Rumore. Madeline was raised and educated in Manhattan, NY, and was married in 1941. She moved to Brooklyn, NY, during World War II.
Madeline made homes for her family at different times in Minnesota, New Jersey, and on Long Island. Artistic and creative, she enjoyed cooking, entertaining, dancing, crafting, reading, and working in her garden. She took great pleasure painting with acrylics and watercolor. Madeline had also enjoyed working in retail marketing for Avon and for several market research firms for a number of years.
Predeceased in 1998 by her husband, Benjamin Mannarino, she is survived by two daughters, Connie Kulaka and husband Charles of Brooklyn, NY, and Michelle Mannarino Luhrmann and husband Craig of Medfield, four grandchildren, Stephen, Christine, Andrew, and Anna, and a niece and nephew, Mary and Anthony Riccardi. She was also the grandmother of Amilia Rose Luhrmann who died in 2003, and sister of the late Frances Riccardi.
Her funeral service will be held at the United Church of Christ, 496 Main Street, Medfield, on Friday, May 22nd at 1:00p.m. Burial will follow at Vine Lake Cemetery.

Shiels, James J., age 83, a longtime Walpole resident, died on Saturday evening, May 16, 2009, at Caritas Norwood Hospital.
Born in Medfield on January 26, 1926, he was a son of the late Jerome and Jessica I. (McFadden) Shiels. He graduated from Medfield High School in 1943 and shortly thereafter entered the U.S. Army. As a member of the Armored 19th Infantry Battalion, Jim saw combat in Central Europe and the Rhineland and was awarded two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, and the combat infantry badge.
Jim was employed as a meat cutter with Stop & Shop in Dedham for more than 25 years at the time of his retirement. He was a member of the Walpole Knights of Columbus Council #1319, the Medfield American Legion Beckwith Post #110 and the Walpole V.F.W. Post #1588.
He is survived by his wife, Grace C. (Evans) Shiels, a son, James J. Shiels, Jr. of Franklin, a daughter, Claire T. O’Keefe and husband Kevin of Norfolk, a sister, Margaret B. Newton of Medway, a brother, Peter J. Shiels of Medfield, and three grandchildren, James J. Shiels, III, and Gavin E. and Audrey G. O’Keefe. He was also a brother of the late Mary E. Whitney and Leo G. Shiels.

Smith, Ann Lloyes, age 78, died at her Taunton home on Tuesday, April 14, 2009.
Born in Framingham on May 6, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John Lorie and Helen E. (Backman) Smith. She was a former resident of Medfield.
Mrs. Smith had performed for many years with professional dance troupes throughout the country. She was later employed with Keithley Instruments and Texas Instruments and had been active with the Agape Chapel in Raynham. Mrs. Smith was a longtime member of the Taunton Golden Agers and had enjoyed raising, training, and showing Pomeranian dogs. She loved listening to music and watching old movies.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Hebert of Pawtucket, RI, and several close friends, among them Evamae Dumoulin of Taunton.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Vine Lake Cemetery, 625 Main Street (Rte. 109), Medfield, on Monday, June 8th at 2:30p.m.

Housley Mary Everett, age 91, of Millis, died Wednesday May 13, 2009, at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.
Born in Louisville, KY, on November 6, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Harold J. and Alice (Foster) Everett. Mary was raised in Portland, ME, and graduated from the Waynflete School in 1934. She was a 1938 graduate of Wellesley College.
After years of volunteer activity, Mary entered the business field for a short time. She was employed with Milton Academy as their first Director of Admissions for girls, and later held the same position at the Dana Hall School for Girls in Wellesley. At the time of her retirement she was working as the assistant to the President of a small corporation in Wellesley. Mary enjoyed her work, family and gardening.
Wife of the late Richard A. Housley, she is survived by four children, Richard A. Housley Jr. of Hanover, Susan Ashley of Orono, ME, Pamela Housley of Chelmsford, and Andrea Quinlan of Yorba Linda, CA, seven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by a sister, Lena Everett, late of Brunswick, ME and a brother, Edward Everett, late of Cave Creek, AZ.

Powell, Alice Gertrude , Age 92, of Millis, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the Medway Country Manor Nursing Home.
Born in Boston September 25, 1916, she was the daughter of the late William Pendegrast and Gertrude (Burns) Pendegrast. She was educated in the Boston Public School System.
Alice was employed by the Medfield State Hospital for 20 years as a housekeeper. Her hobbies included, Bingo and crochet. She was a member of the Mass State Retirees Assoc and the Millis Senior Center Club.
Wife of the late Joseph Powell, she is survived by three daughters, Gertrude M. Bates of Pineclas Park, FL, and Frances M. Powell of Franklin and Jo-Ann Santos of Millis, also survived by five grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Crehan.
Private services were held at the convenience of the family.

Iafolla, Florence (Cella), age 93, a resident of Medfield for seventy years, died Sunday morning, May 10, 2009, at the Thomas Upham House.
Born in Everett on March 23, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Jennie (Beatrice) Cella. She was a 1934 graduate of the Boston Public Schools and then worked as a fabricator for the Elite Leather Company in Boston.
Mrs. Iafolla settled in Medfield in 1938 and was employed with the Medfield Hat Shop until 1961. She then worked with the Medway Hat Shop until her retirement in 1970. Remembered by her sons as a tough but loving mother, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and playing Bingo.
Predeceased by her husband, Ercole “Curley” Iafolla, she is survived by four sons, Eric A. Iafolla, Robert B. Iafolla, and Richard H. Iafolla of Medfield, and Peter A. Iafolla of Norfolk, a brother, Richard Cella of Braintree, six grandchildren, Jason, Bob, Michelle, Jessica, Kimberly, and Brenda, and eight great-grandchildren.

Erskine Jr., Joseph F., 88, of Medfield where he has been a resident since 1950, died Friday evening, May 8, 2009 at the MetroWest Medical Center in Natick.
Born January 14, 1921 in Needham, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Janet Dixon (Lumsden) Erskine. He was educated in the Needham Public Schools graduating with the class of 1940. Joe was inducted shortly after graduation by the Army Air Corps where he served with the 860th Bombardment Squadron as a Photographic Lab Technician during the Normandy Campaign and also the European African Middle Eastern Theater.
Formerly of Needham, Mr. Erskine was a Master Electrician, and was a member of the (IBEW), International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local #103. He had been employed over the years by Corning Scientific in Medfield as well as Carling Breweries in Natick as an electrician. Joe was a member of Charles River Lodge of Masons in Medway, the Medfield Acacia Club, Beckwith Post 110, American Legion in Medfield as well as the former Cpl Steven Hinkley Post Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also served for many years as a volunteer Fireman for the Town of Medfield and for over 50 years was the Town of Medfield Electrical Inspector.
He leaves his wife of over 60 years Jessie A. Kelley, Lizanne M., 51, a former longtime resident of Millis, died on Friday, May 8, 2009, surrounded by family and friends at her Medway home.
Born in Boston, she was a daughter of Jeanne Marie (Miller) Kelley of Bay Harbor Islands, FL, and the late Arthur F. Kelley. She was a 1975 graduate of Needham High School and continued her education at Massachusetts Bay Community College.
Liz was employed as the director of marketing for OmniComm Systems of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and had previously held a similar position with Phase Forward of Waltham. She had also worked as head of catering sales for the Inn at Longwood in Boston. She had been an enthusiastic volunteer with Hospitality Homes, helping to find housing for families of hospital patients.
Fond of travel and summering on Cape Cod or in York, Maine, Liz also enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was kind, generous, loved to sing and dance, had a great sense of humor, and relished her role as a mother.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Georgia Marie Kelley of Medway, a sister, Carol A. Pacheco and husband Ronald of Dedham, a brother, Brian A. “Bud” Kelley of Mansfield, and many extended family members and close friends.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis, on Friday, May 15th at 10:00a.m. Burial will be private.

Kerr, Virginia (Davis), age 88, a longtime Medfield resident, died early Tuesday morning, April 28, 2009, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Needham.
Born in Wellesley on February 21, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Cooper) Davis. She was raised and educated in Framingham and was married on her twenty first birthday to Earle C. Kerr. The couple settled in Medfield after his service during World War II.
Mrs. Kerr was employed with the Medfield Public Schools for more than thirty years as the administrative assistant to the superintendent of schools. She and her husband had split their time between their homes in Medfield and Englewood, Florida, since their retirement. Mrs. Kerr had been an active with the United Church of Christ in Medfield for many years and was a member of the Tri-Valley Secretarial Association.
A skilled artist, Mrs. Kerr enjoyed painting outdoor scenes with oils. She liked to spend time playing the organ, birding, reading, and most of all, doting on her large extended family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Sandra Nelson and husband Alfred of Penn Valley, CA, and Patricia Foscaldo and husband Paul of Medfield, two sisters, Jean Bjork and husband Norris of Nokomis, FL, and Nancy Angus and husband Donald of Buzzards Bay, a brother, John Davis and wife Helen of Buffalo, NY, eight grandchildren, Karen, Darrell, Darrick, Mark, Rebecca, James, Deborah, and David, and twelve great-grandchildren, Samantha, Nathan, Katelyn, Ryan, Jackson, Harper, Cash, Maggie, Parker, Joseph, Ronnie, and William. She was also the mother of the late Ronald Kerr and sister of the late Charles and Edward Davis.
Her Memorial Service will be held at the United Church of Christ, 496 Main Street, Medfield, on Friday, May 1st at 1:00p.m. Burial will be private.

Martinis, Francis A. "Marty", age 77, a long time resident of Medway, died on Tuesday afternoon, April 28, 2009, at the Franklin Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Boston, he was raised in Medway and was a 1948 graduate of Medway High School. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1951 and earned the rank of corporal during the Korean War. In 1959, he transferred to the U.S. Coast Guard where he served as an Electrician’s Mate until 1964.
Marty continued his education at Northeastern University and was employed with the Framingham Police Department until 1978. While still in Framingham, he owned and operated Marty and Sons Landscaping for a short time prior to joining the Teamsters Union. He was then employed as a cross country truck driver until his retirement. He had been a member of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Club and the D.A.V.
He is survived by three sons, Donald Martinis and wife Deanna of Bellingham, Francis Martinis and wife Sharon of Bellingham, and William Maniscalco and wife Carie of Venice Beach, CA, and five grandchildren.
Burial with military honors will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Friday, May 8th at 1:15p.m.

Kingsbury, Yvonne R., 81, of Gilmanton where she has been a resident since 1973, died unexpectedly on Monday, April 27th, 2009 at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia.
Born March 21, 1928 in Foxborough, MA, she was the daughter of the late Chester H. and Rose E. (Lange) Randall. She was educated in the Foxborough, MA public Schools.
A former long time resident of Medfield, MA, she was a member of the Quinobequin Chapter, #67, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Beckwith Post 110, American Legion Auxiliary.
Yvonne enjoyed knitting and quilting, and was an avid bird watcher. She got most of her enjoyment spending time with her grandchildren and great granddaughter.
She leaves her husband of almost 60 years, Allan A. Kingsbury, the retired Chief of Police of Medfield, MA, a daughter Jacqueline L. Kingsbury, a son Allan A. Kingsbury and his wife Bonnie, both of Gilmanton, a brother Bruce Randall of CA, grandchildren Naomi Searles and her husband Nathan and Allan A.G. Kingsbury, and a great granddaughter Erilyn Searles.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 at 1:00pm at the Roberts-Mitchell Memorial Chapel, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, MA. Burial will follow at Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield, MA.

Mack, Dennis, age 81, a long time resident of Medfield, died on Sunday, April, 26 2009 at the Stanley Tippett House in Needham.
Born in London, England on Jan 19, 1928 he was the son of the late William and Roslyn (Bouvala) Mack. He was educated in England and graduated from Cambridge University, Cambridge, England. He also served in the British Army.
Mr. Mack was employed for 25 years with the Honeywell Corporation in Waltham as a Computer Engineer. He retired in 1989. Dennis enjoyed reading.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Margaret (Gysling) Mack.

Wood, Ellen P., 74, of Millis where she has been a resident since 1955, died after a lengthy battle at her home on Friday evening, April 24th, 2009.
Born March 17, 1935 in Boston, she was the daughter of the late John and Marie (Hayes) Winterson. Polly was educated in the Boston Public School System graduating with the class of 1953.
Formerly of Roslindale, she had been employed by the former Cappy’s Restaurant (now Victory Lane) in Millis and the Millis AMVETS Post 495 as a Bartender for over 35 years.
A member of the Franklin Elks, B.P.O.E., Post 2136, she was also a life member of Millis AMVETS Post 495 Auxillary. Mrs. Wood enjoyed traveling, reading, crocheting, and dining out, but most especially she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Wife of the late Robert A. Wood, she is survived by 3 sons, Robert L. Wood and his wife Sarah and Shaun R. Wood all of Millis and Richard A. Wood of Milford, 2 brothers Robert Winterson of FL and John “Jack” Wood of Manomet, as well as 10 grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son Randy E. Wood.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 28th at 10AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis with burial following at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Millis.

King, Gordon P., of Hanover, Pa., died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, at the Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing Center. Born March 28, 1918, in Millis, he was the son of the late Rudolph F. King, former Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, and Ethel (Post) King.
Gordon was the loving husband of Esther (Langdon) King of Hanover, Pa., and the late Charlotte (Simpson) King, who died Dec. 6, 2000. Mr. King was a graduate of Dartmouth College, and received his MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. Gordon proudly served his country as a lieutenant SG in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946. He served as a Seabee in the Pacific Island Hopping Campaigns from Guadalcanal to Okinawa. He was awarded the American Theatre Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with 3 Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. King was the president/CEO of Hanover Shoe, Inc., board chair of the Direct Selling Association, Washington, D.C., director of the Volume Footwear Retailers of America, Washington, D.C., director of the United Telephone Company of Pennsylvania, and director of the National Central Bank.
Gordon’s community service included serving as director of the Hanover General Hospital and director of the United Way of York County. Mr. King was a member of the Harold H. Bair Post 14 American Legion, Hanover, Pa., the Hanover Rotary Club, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 763, Hanover, Pa. He was a Free and Accepted Mason, belonging to the Charles River Lodge in Medway. Gordon was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, Hanover, Pa., where he was a former elder and consistory member.
In addition to his wife, Esther, Gordon is survived by three sons, Alan S. King and his wife, Sandra A., of Spring Grove, Pa., Robert S. King and his wife, Cheryl J., of Potomac, Md., and Richard G. King and his wife, Estelle B. of Hanover, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Alexandra Sivel, Steven King, Lauren King, Jonathan King, Susan Nachtigall, James King, Katherine King and John King; and two great-grandchildren, Robert and Jonathan King.
Graveside services, with military honors, will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 25th, at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Millis with the Rev. Jennifer Munroe-Nathans, Pastor of The Church of Christ, Millis, officiating. . Greenler, Georgia A. (Dauphinee) Anderson, age 88, a former resident of Millis, died on Tuesday morning, April 21, 2009, at Kimberly Hall South in Windsor, CT, after a long illness. She was the wife of the late William J. Greenler and William Thomas Anderson.
Born in Framingham on September 16, 1920, she was one of twin daughters born to the late Thomas F. and Mary (Madden) Dauphinee. She was a 1938 graduate of Framingham High School.
Mrs. Greenler had been employed for many years with Sears, Roebuck, and Co. prior to working for twenty five years with Filenes in Wellesley. She had been a Communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church and a member of the Millis Senior Center and the Twins Club.
Predeceased by a daughter, Jane Anderson Caruso, she is survived by a son, William Thomas Anderson, Jr., and wife Jean of Cocoa, FL, a son-in-law, Dr. Dominic Caruso of Millis, and her grandchildren, Elizabeth Campbell, Gretchen Nelson, Anthony Caruso, Christine Therrien, and Karin Stuart, and ten great-grandchildren.
Her funeral will be from the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 90 Curve Street, Millis, on Friday, Apr. 24th at 9:00a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis, at 10:00a.m. Burial will be at Vernon Grove Cemetery, Milford.

Ziemba, Esther (Daniels) Andrews, age 90, died on Monday evening, April 20, 2009, at Thomas Upham House after a short illness.
Born in Framingham on May 11, 1918, she was the daughter of the late William Percy and Mary Meikle Daniels. She began public education in Henniker, NH in 1924, graduated from Holliston High School in 1935, and then from Framingham Business College in 1937.
Esther worked at Medfield State Hospital from 1937 until 1974 when she retired. She met Nelson R. Andrews who also worked at the State Hospital and they were married in 1946. "Andy" died in 1970. Esther married Stanley Ziemba in 1972 and they remained in Medfield. He died in 1997.
Esther was a gentle and quiet woman of grace and dignity. Her special interests were traveling, bowling, piano playing and dancing. She was gracious and generous. Esther lived at 56 Adams Street from 1952 until 2004 when she moved to her last home at the Thomas Upham House. She was a member of the Medfield Senior Center and attended the United Church of Christ of Medfield in earlier days.
She was additionally predeceased by all her brothers and sisters: Carlton Daniels, Everett Daniels, Jessie Maynard, Almon Daniels, Leon Daniels, Ora Maclaren, and Austin Day.
She is survived by a step-son, Steven Ziemba, and nieces and nephews: Elaine Atwood, Dick Maynard, Bob Maynard, Anne Bowman, Peter Maynard, Nancy Stubbs, David Daniels, Dick Daniels, Patricia Fijalkowski, William Daniels, Robert Day, Lawrence Day, Ronald Day, Patricia Voner and Lauri Medeiros.
Friends may visit with Esther’s family on Friday, April 25th at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, at 1:00p.m., prior to her memorial service at 2:00p.m. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Millis. Collins, William Carroll Jr., age 71, a lifelong resident of Millis, died suddenly early Monday morning, April 20, 2009, at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham after being stricken at his home.
Born in Millis on October 15, 1937, he was the son of the late Marie (Morrison) and William C. Collins. Bill was a 1956 graduate of Millis High School, after which he served with the U.S. Air Force.
Bill had been employed as a driver with Sansone Motor Tours of Norwood for the past 45 years. You could find him feeding and watching birds or working on projects in his backyard, but he was happiest watching his grandson’s sporting events.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marsha (Levine) Collins, a daughter, Dianne M. Jordan and husband David of Franklin, a grandson, Tripper Rowean, and many dear friends.
Memorial visiting hours will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 90 Curve Street, Millis, on Thursday, Apr. 23rd from 4 – 7p.m. Burial will be private.

Yurkanin, Rosemary, age 89, a former resident of Millis and Sarasota, FL, died on Sunday afternoon, April 19, 2009, at Medway Country Manor.
Born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Aloysius and Rose (Tunner) Meder. She was a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School and continued her education at an area business school.
Mrs. Yurkanin was a devoted wife and mother who created loving and beautiful homes after each of the many moves her family made to various states in the country. One memorable home was a sailboat, “The Bombay Clipper.”
A secretary with the Federal Government at the Natick Laboratories during the 1960s, she later worked for several years with her husband at his engineering firm, Team, Inc. After retirement, she and her husband spent the winter months at their home at Camelot Lakes in Sarasota, FL.
Predeceased by her husband, Richard John Yurkanin, and a son, Richard John Yurkanin, Jr., she is survived by a daughter, Charmagne Ann LaPrise and husband Frank of Millis, a grandson, Nikolai Yurkanin of Sterling, a granddaughter, Alyssa Franciszka (LaPrise) Greenwood and husband William of Sandwich, numerous nieces and nephews, and a cousin, Dolores Carson.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Auburn Road, Millis, on Sunday, Apr. 26th at 12:30p.m. Friends may gather with the family at the LaPrise residence, 30 Baltimore Street, Millis, after the service at 1:30pm.

Hardin, Jeffrey Milton, age 60, an active member of the Millis community, died
on Friday morning, April 17, 2009, at his home after a long illness.
Born, raised and educated in Needham, he was a son of the late Milton B. and Meriel N. (Newcomer) Hardin. He was a 1966 graduate of Needham High School. Jeff attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, but interrupted his studies to serve with the Army during the Vietnam War. He completed his degree at UMass in 1974, and would later earn an MS in environmental engineering from Northeastern University.
Jeff had lived briefly in Natick and Medfield prior to settling in Millis in 1978. He had been employed as an environmental engineer with GZA of Newton and TGG of Needham before forming his own company, Underground Engineering. He had been an enthusiastic sailor and enjoyed playing guitar.
A civic minded individual, Jeff had been a two term member of the Millis Board of Selectmen, a past president of the Mass Municipal Association, and had served on many boards and committees in Millis. Among them were the Historical Commission, the Permanent Building Committee, the Cable Commission, and the Master Plan Implementation Task Force. Jeff had been very active with the project to preserve the Niagara Fire Station in Millis Center, a cause which has remained very dear to him. He was also instrumental in the current transformation of the downtown Millis area and was proclaimed Citizen of the Year by the Millis Lions Club earlier this month.
Jeff was also a volunteer shipbuilder during the construction of the Spirit of Massachusetts and had been a charter member of the UMass Amherst chapter of Engineers Without Borders, founded in 2004. He was a member of the Millis American Legion Post 208.
He is survived by his wife, Jane (Mulligan) Hardin, a daughter, Jennifer Marie Hardin of Cambridge, two sons, James Milton Hardin and John Michael Hardin, both of Millis, a sister, Lisa Jane Hardin and partner Cheryl Labonte of Millis, two brothers, Nicholas J. Hardin and wife Susan of Williston, VT, and Daniel E. Hardin and wife Carolyn of Carbondale, CO, six nieces and nephews, Katherine, Christopher, Michael, Jessica, Jackson, and Andrew, grand-nephew Bryan and grandniece Annika, his mother-in-law, Evelyn A. (Healy) Mulligan of Natick, and a sister-in-law, Katherine Mulligan of Watertown. He was a brother of the late Christopher L. Hardin.

Magnussen, Elsa D. , 88, of Holliston, died Tuesday evening, April 14, 2009 at the Medway Country Manor.
Born August 24, 1920 in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Einar and Rachael (Pedersen) Christiansen and was educated in the Belmont Public Schools.
She was former resident of Medfield, Franklin and East Douglas. As a caring person, she volunteered for many charities including, but not limited to, the Shriners’ Clown Team along with her husband Hank in various parades, s well as, the Shriners’ Burns Hospital in Boston. She was for many years a Sunday School Teacher at her church and loved square dancing with the Medfield Scrambled Eights. Elsa enjoyed camping with friends and family members, and was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
Her caring nature was evident in her employment as well; Elsa spent over 30 years employed by the Thomas Upham House (the former MedVale Nursing Home) and the Medfield State Hospital.
Wife of the late Henry W. “Hank” Magnussen, she leaves 5 children, Karl H. Magnussen and his wife Yvonne, and Karen A. Sessa all of Holliston, Kraig Magnussen and his wife Faye of Millis, Kris Magnussen and his wife Doris of Franklin, and Kirk Magnussen and his wife Laurie of No. Smithfield, RI. She is also survived by 12 grand and 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Elsa was predeceased by a grandson Nathan Myles Magnussen.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 17th at 10AM at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield with the Reverend Douglas Hale, Chaplin of Evercare Hospice in Waltham, followed by burial in the family lot at Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield.

McFetridge Sr., Arthur S., 82, of Millis, died on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at Riverbend of South Natick.
Born Novenmber 15, 1926 in Dedham, MA, he was the son of the late Henry and Veda (Wren) McFetridge. Arthur attended Holliston and Millis Public Schools. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during WWII.
A truck driver and owner of the McFetridge Rubbish Removal Company for 30 years, he retired in 1997. Arthur enjoyed spending time with his family and was an amature oil painting artist. He also was an avid coin collector and a life long member of the Millis Legion.
Husband of the late Alice (Heustis) McFetridge and Evelyn (MacCabe) McFetridge, he is survived by a daughter, Sandra Lee Alker of Westfield, two sons, Skip and his wife Cherylann McFetridge of Millis and Elward A. “Woody” McFetridge of Upton, five grandchildren, James McFetridge, Kathy Drew, Lucas McFetridge, Sophia McFetridge and Lisa Alker, and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 25th at 12:00 noon at Prospect Hill Cemetery Auburn Road, Millis.

Tulloch, Irene M. (Norton), age 90, of Millis, formally of Medfield and Roslindale, died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at her home.
Born in Boston (Roxbury), she was the daughter of the late James S. and Honora (Gaughan) Norton. She was educated in Boston Public School system and graduated in 1937. She was employed by the Medfield State Hospital from 1966 to 1986 as a telephone switchboard operator.
A resident of Millis since 1994, Mrs. Tulloch adored her children and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Irene was an avid sports fan most especially of the Boston Red Sox. She also enjoyed the beaches of Cape Cod and riding the waves with her grandchildren.
Predeceased by her husband John L. Tulloch, she was the mother of Pamela L. Keefe of Walpole, Paula L. DuPlessis and husband Thomas of Norwood, Christina L. Jones and husband Scott of Millis, Stephen L. Tulloch and wife Jodie of Dennis, William L. Tulloch and wife Karen of Franklin, Robert L. Tulloch of Millis and the late John L. Tulloch Jr. Mother-in-law of Sharon Tulloch-Currie of Harwichport, sister of Anna J. Velardo of Dover and is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Burns, Lois (Leistman), age 69, of Greenville, DE, formerly of Dover, died on Friday, April 10, 2009 at Heartland Hospice of DE in Wilmington after battling breast cancer for over 10 years.
Lois was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of Herbert and Helen Leistman. Her family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where she graduated from Colorado Springs High School. After graduation, she attended San Francisco State University, San Francisco, California. Lois and her husband, Don, met in San Francisco and lived in the San Francisco bay area until 1969.
Lois and Don lived in many areas of the country, including 16 years in Dover, Massachusetts before moving to Greenville in 1994. While living in Massachusetts, Lois worked as a Real Estate Broker for Dover Country Properties in Dover. She enjoyed giving her time to many charitable organizations. Travel was always a passion of hers. After retiring in 2004, Lois and Don spent much of each year traveling the world. Cruising and family vacations to Sanibel Island, Florida were always a special pleasure for her.
Lois is survived by her husband of 45 years, Don Burns, a daughter, Lesley Horner and husband Glenn of Norfolk, a son, Todd Burns and wife Sandy of Millis, four grandchildren, Kevin Horner, Dylan Horner, Haley Burns , and Colin Burns, a brother, Herbert Leistman and wife Rose of California, and many nieces and nephews. Lois always cherished time with her family and friends.
Her funeral service will be held at the Dover Church, 17 Springdale Avenue, Dover, on Wednesday, April 15th at 2:00p.m. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.

Royer, Hubert E., age 85, of Walpole, a former long time resident of Medfield, died on Thursday afternoon, April 9, 2009, at Caritas Norwood Hospital in Norwood.
Born, raised, and educated in Mount Vernon, New York, he was the son of the late Hubert and Marie (Rudy) Royer. He continued his education at Columbia College but interrupted his studies to join the US Coast Guard and serve for the remainder of World War II as a coxswain. He later returned to Columbia and completed his bachelor’s degree.
Mr. Royer was employed throughout his career as a business underwriter with the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. While working in New Castle, PA, he met and after a courtship married Alice “Mae” Douglas. The couple moved to Waltham in 1962 and then lived for several years in Westwood before relocating to Paoli, PA. When he was assigned to Boston in 1979, the Royers settled in Medfield where they remained until Mae’s death in 1998. Mr. Royer moved to Walpole in 2003.
An enthusiastic Red Sox fan, Mr. Royer had also enjoyed playing golf and was a former member of the Glen Ellen Country Club in Millis. He took a great interest in the lives of his grandchildren.
He is survived by a daughter, Alicia Drago of Stoughton, a son, John D. Royer and his wife Cathi of Mount Pleasant, SC, and seven grandchildren, Krista, Olivia, Evan, Sean, Jessica, Nicholas, and Timothy. He was also the grandfather of the late Ally.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at Vine Lake Cemetery, 625 Main Street (Rte. 109), Medfield, on Thursday, Apr. 16th at 10:30a.m.

Kosh, Joseph Jr., age 64, a resident of Millis for the past 35 years, died on Wednesday evening, April 8, 2009, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a brief illness.
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on August 12, 1944, he was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Mackar) Kosh. Joe graduated from Scranton Technical High School in 1962. He then joined the United States Air Force and served with the Strategic Air Command. While stationed at Otis Air Force Base on Cape Cod, Joe met Mary L. Casey. They married in 1965.
The couple made their home in Norfolk for seven years while Joe was employed with Precision Metallurgical. In 1970, he apprenticed as a plumber working with Wally Lee Plumbing and Heating. After he was licensed, Joe was with Millis Plumbing for several years prior to starting his own company in 1981. Currently called Joseph Kosh and Sons Plumbing and Heating, he served both residential and commercial clients throughout Norfolk County. Joe had been a member of the Massachusetts State Plumbing Board for five years and had been Assistant Plumbing Inspector for the Town of Millis for the past ten years.
Joe had been a long time member of the Nantasket Beach Salt Water Club and the Hull Lifesaving Museum. He enjoyed building various types of boats, among them dories, and small sailboats and rowboats (Lil’ Tomato.) He was also a member of the Fin, Fur, and Feather Club of Millis and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife Mary, a daughter, Stephanie Bravoco and husband Richard of Millis, three sons, Nicholas J. Kosh of Millis, David J. Kosh and wife Karen of Norton, , and James M. Kosh and wife Kelly of Norton, and three grandchildren, Melody Irene Kosh, Anthony G. Porzio, and Natalie Grace Kosh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis, on Tuesday, Apr. 14th at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Connors, James H. Jr. , age 57, of Medfield, died on Monday morning, March 30, 2009, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Born in Brighton on October 24, 1951, he was a son of Jean E. (Ryan) Connors of Wellesley and the late James H. Connors. Jim was raised in Brookline and was a 1969 graduate of Brookline High School. He continued his education at Hebron Academy in Maine and earned a degree in business administration from Boston University in 1974. He was a member of the 1972 National Champion BU Hockey team.
Jim worked with Narragansett Race Track for many years prior to starting a home remodeling company in Boston called Sun Space Design. He had also been employed in the sales and marketing area of Amray, Inc. of Bedford and for the past five years had worked with the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission.
A life member of the Woodland Golf Club in Newton where he enjoyed playing tennis, he had also been a youth hockey coach in Medfield.
He is additionally survived by his wife, Dolores (Tunney) Connors, a son and daughter, James H. Connors, III, and Alexandra J. Connors of Medfield, two brothers, Paul S. Connors and wife Sally of Canton and Brian Connors and wife Beth of Walpole, a sister, Mary Jean Kelley and husband Thomas of Natick, and a brother-in-law, Brion Tunney and wife Kaye of Medfield. He was predeceased by his brother Michael.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street (Rte. 27), Medfield, on Friday, April 3rd at 10:00a.m. Burial will be private.

Lowe, Scott A., age 53, a resident of South Attleboro, passed away suddenly on Friday morning, March 27, 2009, at his home.
Born in Norwood on November 29, 1955, he was the son of the late Richard and Jean (Cochrane) Lowe. He was a 1973 graduate of Norwood High School and had remained in Norwood until moving to Pawtucket, RI, in 1994.
Scott had been employed as a machinist, was a motorcycle enthusiast, avid Patriots fan and loved fishing and working on cars. He was a proud father and loving brother and friend.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Jean Crehan of Walpole, two sisters, Bonnie Moxley and husband Elvis of Como, MS, and Betty White and husband Martin of Franklin, two nephews, Martin White, Jr. and Kevin White, a niece, Michelle White, and his devoted girlfriend, Robin Ferran.
A celebration of Scott’s life is planned for April 11, 2009 from 4 – 8p.m. at Finnigan’s Wake, 7 Glenwood Avenue, Walpole, MA 02081.

LaVita, Joseph Sr., age 74, a resident of Medfield since 1975, died suddenly on Thursday, March 26, 2009, at Caritas Norwood Hospital.
Born in Avelino, Italy, on December 18, 1934, he was a son of the late Carmine and Annunziatta (Sorrentino) LaVita. He immigrated to Boston’s North End as a teenager and settled in Roslindale after his marriage in 1961. Mr. LaVita founded the Eastern Cabinet Shop in Dedham in 1966. He moved the shop to Hyde Park in 1981, and his sons later joined him in his work.
Mr. LaVita thoroughly enjoyed his craft as a woodworker and liked most to be with his family and taking care of his home. He was talented gardener, had a great love for animals and was an enthusiastic sports fan, particularly a Red Sox fan.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Josephine P. (Susi) LaVita in 2005, he is survived by two daughters, Tina Polcaro and husband Franco and Donna Brown and husband Jeff, all of Bellingham, two sons, Joseph LaVita, Jr. and wife Gina and Carmine LaVita and wife Susan all of Millis, five grandchildren, Juliana Josephine, Albino Joseph, Matthew, Franco, and Joseph. A sister, Theresa Izzo and husband Dominic of California, a brother, Angelo LaVita and wife Lillian of Roslindale, a sister-in-law, Anna Linowski, her husband Robert and their sons Robert and Nicholas, all of Hyde Park, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street, Medfield, on Monday, Mar. 30th at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at Vine Lake Cemetery.

Berberian, Michael J., age 82, a Medfield resident since 1981, died on Thursday morning, March 26, 2009.
Born in Charlestown on November 2, 1926, he was a son of the late Misak and Mary (Garoyan) Berberian. Raised and educated in Roxbury, Mr. Berberian joined the Marine Corps attaining the rank of corporal during World War II. He married in 1947 and settled in Hyde Park while continuing his education at Northeastern University. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering as well as a master’s degree in engineering management and was a member of the Tau Beta Pi Society.
The Berberians moved to Waltham in 1956 and Mr. Berberian was employed for several years with Sylvania in both their Waltham and Needham offices. In 1968 he became an engineering liaison with the Foxboro Corporation. In 1975 he moved to The Netherlands where he was Plant Manager for Foxboro’s operation in Soest. Three years later he relocated to Trumbull, CT, to be Plant Manager for Foxboro in Norwalk. In 1981, he settled in Medfield and was to work as the Foxboro Corporation’s Corporate Quality Assurance Manager until his retirement.
Mr. Berberian continued his education throughout his life and had also taught courses in quality control. He enjoyed restoring furniture and woodworking and took a special pleasure in creating and furnishing dollhouses for his granddaughters. He was an enthusiastic gardener and took great pride in his flower beds.
He is survived by his wife, Florence V. (Avedisian) Berberian, two sons, Mark K. Berberian and wife Linda of Herndon, VA, and Bruce M. Berberian and wife Susan of Harlingen, TX, and two granddaughters, Lisa and Laura Berberian. He was also a brother of the late Albert Berberian, Alta Galandzi, and Julia Hekimian.
His funeral will celebrated at the Church of the Advent, 28 Pleasant Street, Medfield, on Tuesday, Mar. 31st at 10:30a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, at 3:00p.m.

Weiker, Richard D. Sr., age 77, a native of Medfield and resident of Upton since 1981, died on Sunday afternoon, March 22, 2009, at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Northbridge.
Born in Framingham on December 4, 1931, he was a son of the late Dana and Irene (Taylor) Weiker. Mr. Weiker was raised and educated in Medfield and was a member of the Medfield High School Class of 1949. He joined the US Navy the following year and served as a machinist’s mate during the Korean War.
Mr. Weiker owned and operated Richard Weiker Grader Service in Medfield until his 2004 retirement. A devout Christian and devoted family man, he enjoyed spending time at his home in Edgewater, Florida, and was an enthusiastic camper and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Marion E. (Barnes) Weiker, a son, Richard D. Weiker, Jr. and wife Christine of Millville, two daughters, Lorraine L. Watson and husband Robert and Brenda A. Weiker all of Upton, four sisters, Roberta Lang and Marcia Donnelly both of Branford, CT, Janice Gamache of Winchester, NH, and Jeanne Polio of East Haven, CT, a step-brother, David Owens of Florida, eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and 24 nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Judy LaBanca and step-brother of the late Robert Owens.
A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, Mar. 25th at 12:15p.m. at Vine Lake Cemetery, 625 Main Street (Rte. 109), Medfield.

Drahos, Richard D., 85, of Medfield where he has been a resident since 1967, died unexpectedly at Leonard Morse Hospital on Monday, March 16, 2009.
Born December 30, 1924 in Ford City, PA, he was the son of the late John Drahos and Mary (Knottek) Drahos, He was a graduate of the University of Detroit with a Bachelors degree in electrical engineering. Dick served in the U.S. Navy as a 3rd Class Sonar Technician during WWII.
Employed for 23 years as a Gyroscope Engineer for Northrop Corp in Norwood, prior to being employed for many years at Speary Corp. in New York. He retired in 1990. After the loss of his wife of 54 years, Dick devoted his life to the Marion Community of Medway. He also enjoyed golf and time with his grandchildren.
Beloved husband of the late Maryanna (Soldo) Drahos, he is survived by two children, David J. Drahos and wife Diane of Roanoke, VA, and John A. Drahos and wife Joyce of Worcester, MA four siblings, Nicholas Drahos of Arrora, NY, Vera Stiles of FL, Eleanor Stiles of Cedarhurst, NY and Jack Drahos of Farmington Hills, MT. Dick is also survived by five grandchildren, Michael Drahos, Caroline Drahose, Elizabeth Drahos Karen Drahos and Kristen Drahos along with many Nephews and Nieces.

Greenaway, Christine V. (Finley), of Medfield passed away on March 11, 2009 at her home after a long illness.
Chris was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 4, 1946. She graduated from Cranford High School in Cranford, N.J. in 1964 and from Heidelberg University, OH in 1968. While in college, she enjoyed being a member of the Delta Sigma Chi sorority. Chris moved to Boston after college with her girlfriends and worked at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. She and Jim were married in 1973, and they bought a home in Medfield in 1974, where they raised their three boys. Chris was very active in raising her children, helping with Boy Scouts, school activities, and sports events, and was very proud of her family.
She also fell in love with Cape Cod and spent many happy days on the beaches in Harwich and Chatham. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She attended the United Church of Christ in Medfield.
Chris will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful mother, wife, and friend by her husband, Jim Greenaway; her sons, Scott C., Andrew C., and David J. Greenaway; her brother, Robert Finley and his wife Gertrude; and her many friends. Christine’s courageous spirit and kindness will be greatly missed.

Morgan, L. Mary (Palumbo), 92, most devoted wife and beloved mother, died Friday, March 5, 2009, after a long and serious illness.
Born in Medfield, she was the daughter of Gaetano and Adelia Palumbo, of Medfield, and Ofana, Italy, and Chivatalle Cassanova, Province of Pescara, Italy, the wife of the late, Henry A. Morgan Jr., of Millis; and, as a widow joined the Third Order of Mary as Sister Mary Michael.
She was a life-time resident of Millis, since 1938 and was formerly of Medfield, MA, where she was born on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1917 on Frairy Street. Her father named her Lavvenira because “vvenira” in Italian means “the future that is to come”. She went by the name L. Mary Palumbo Morgan.
A graduate of the Class of 1936 Medfield High School, Mary was employed by the Medfield State Hospital as Supervisor of the Executive Dining Room. On July 30, 1938, she was married at St. Edward’s Church in Medfield. With the event of WWII, she joined the war effort at Raytheon in Waltham. A secretary for most of her life, she was employed by both the Herman Shoe Company in Millis for over 10 years; and, retired after 30 years of distinguished service to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Parole Board, Norfolk, MA.
A life-long Roman Catholic, she was a parishioner of St. Edward’s Parish in Medfield; St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Millis; and, St. Roger & St. Mary, Traditional Latin Catholic Church, of West Roxbury, MA. After her husband died, wanting to dedicate her life to God, Mary became a sister of the Third Order of Mary, under the directed of the Marist Order as it allows widows to join. She was invested and became Sister Mary Michael and performed her religious duties and the customary responsibilities of a Marist Nun.
She loved her family and desired more than anything else to be surrounded by them, and enjoyed cooking and gardening. An extensive world-traveler, her trips took her to such places as China, The Near and Far East, the South Pacific and the European Theater.
During her last years, Mary spent many hours sharing tales of her faith and her life as she was in and out of the hospital. A good and holy woman, of virtuous integrity, her main focus was to teach others to lead a live pleasing to God.
She is survived by three children, MaryAnn Morgan Stetson, and husband Kenneth, of Jupiter, FL; Ronald H. Morgan, and wife, Diane; and Robert A. Morgan, all of Millis. Eight grandchildren, Melissa Stetson Doyle, and her husband Joseph, of Jupiter, FL; Rebecca Stetson Gray and her husband, Brian of Boulder, CO.; James Morgan Stetson of Miami, FL; Kenneth Prilay Steston III, of Golden, CO., AnneMarie Morgan, John H. Morgan, Brian R. Morgan and Sarah Ann Morgan of Millis, MA. And four great grandchildren, Laura Riley Kepler, of Stetson University, DeLand , FL, Victoria MaryAnn Kepler, Carrigan Elizabeth Doyle, Aidan Shamus Doyle, of Jupiter, FL.

Wheelock, Marjorie (Allen), age 81, a resident of Dedham for the past four years, died early Wednesday morning, March 4, 2009, at Clark House in Westwood.
Born in Binghamton, NY, on July 7, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Florence M. (Iehle) and Earl J. Allen, Sr. Following her 1944 graduation from Binghamton Central High School, Marjorie continued her education at the University of Pennsylvania. She was certified as a dental hygienist and went on to work for several years with her father at his local dentist office.
Marjorie married in 1947 and settled in Hancock, NY, where she made a home for her family for the next forty years. She was a past matron of the Hancock chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and had been a member of the Hancock Business and Professional Women’s Club and the 20th Century Book Club. She had also been active with Christ Church Episcopal in Deposit.
In 1989, Marjorie moved to Heritage Village in Southbury, CT, where she was to enjoy several years of playing golf and working with the Altar Guild at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Woodbury. Marjorie had resided at Traditions of Dedham since March of 2005.
Predeceased by her husband, William H. Wheelock, in 1988, she is survived by a son, David A. Wheelock and his wife Janice of Porterville, CA, a daughter, Susan L. Woodman and her husband Daniel of Norfolk, a brother, Earl J. Allen, Jr. and his wife Gloria of Binghamton, NY, three granddaughters, Christine W. Lookner and her husband Saul, Emily M. Woodman, and Sarah C. Wheelock, and a great-granddaughter, Zara Patty Lookner.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Mar. 9th at 11:00a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 59 Court Street, Dedham. Burial will be private.

Stavris, Kenneth P., age 59, of Medfield, died suddenly on Monday morning, March 2, 2009, at Caritas Norwood Hospital.
Born in South Boston on April 9, 1949, he was a son of Peter Stavris of Hyde Park and the late Ethel (Noun) Stavris. He was raised in Hyde Park, graduated with the Hyde Park High School Class of 1967 and then entered the Air Force. He served as a Staff Sergeant with the 2nd Field Maintenance Squadron.
Mr. Stavris was employed for many years with the telephone company, first New England Telephone and later AT&T and Lucent Industries. He retired in 1997 and began work as a custodian with the Medfield Public Schools. He had worked at the Wheelock School prior to joining the staff at Medfield High School.
A member of the Beckwith Post 110 American Legion in Medfield, Mr. Stavris was also a ’57 Chevy enthusiast, an avid Bruins follower and a Sci-Fi fan.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Donna R. (DeFilippo) Stavris, a son, Alan K. Stavris of Attleboro, a daughter, Laura M. Stavris of Burlington, grandsons Evan and Alexander, a brother, Robert Stavris and wife Patricia of Hyde Park, and two nieces, Heidi and Roberta.

Moore, Andrea Elizabeth, age 18, a lifelong resident of Sherborn, died on Monday, March 2, 2009, at Children’s Hospital in Boston after a long illness.
Born in Natick on November 8, 1990, she was one of five daughters born to Amy P. (Brabham) and David C. Moore, Jr. Andrea had attended Pine Hill Elementary School, Holliston Middle School and Lincoln Sudbury High School.
Andrea loved music and dancing, bowling and watching movies. She had a particular interest in history, enjoyed games of Uno with family and friends, and was devoted to her dog, Princess Mia.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sisters, Rachael M. Moore of Murfreesboro, TN, Sarah P. McAtee and husband Jamison of Kearneysville, WV, Clare V. Moore of Sherborn, and Laura B. Moore of Kearneysville, WV, a nephew, Aiden McAtee, her maternal grandfather, Harold Brabham of Crystal River, FL, and her paternal grandmother, Tiny Moore of Meanan, ID.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 6th at 1:00p.m. at the First Parish, Sherborn Unitarian Universalist Area Church, 11 Washington Street, Sherborn.

Harrod, Kathleen T. (Curtin), 91, died Wednesday morning, February 25, 2009, at the Thomas Upham House in Medfield. Her husband of 64 years, Stuart L. Harrod, predeceased her in 2006.
Kay, a native of Tyringham, MA, lived many years in Wellesley, Wellfleet, Yarmouthport and Walpole. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1938 with a degree in Home Economics.
In Wellesley, she was active in the Unitarian Church Women’s Auxiliary as well as a regular library volunteer. In Wellfleet, she was an active member of the National Seashore Taxpayers Association and a volunteer at the Wellfleet Elementary School.
Kay traveled extensively, visiting all the states in the contiguous United States and attending Elderhostels in many states. She was an avid organic gardener and was a lifelong enthusiast of healthy eating. She was an outstanding cook. Kay was a devoted mother and wife and maintained close relationships with her six brothers and sisters, all of whom predeceased her.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Frigon and Lyn Harrod, both of Medfield, a son, Dennis Harrod and his wife JoAnn of Cazenovia, NY, five grandchildren: Sebastien DuBois and his wife Courtney of Los Angeles, Jason Frigon and his wife Kimberly of Franklin, Aaron Frigon and his wife Kallee of Dover, NH, Julia Harrod of DeRuyter, NY, and Anna Harrod of LaHonda, CA, and three great-grandchildren: Marley Kay Frigon, Griffin Stuart DuBois, and Jake Richard Frigon.
Services will be at the convenience of the family and burial will be in Tyringham.

Zitoli, Maria M. "Cookie", died at her Millis home after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Friday morning, February 20, 2009.
She was the beloved and devoted wife for 27 years of Frank A. Zitoli, loving sister of Augusto de Fonseca and her husband Antonio of Portugal, and loving Godmother and aunt of Paulo and Christina of Portugal and Sarah Zitoli of Medfield, devoted cousin of Rosa Sadowski and husband Edward, Dolores Silva and husband George, and John Amaro and wife Phyllis, all of Wilmington, and the much loved sister-in-law of Gerard Zitoli and wife Nancy of Medfield. She also leaves a large and loving extended family, many close friends, and her cherished pets Holly, Spanky, and Bailey.
Mrs. Zitoli's funeral services will be held from the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, Thursday, Feb. 26th at 10:00a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis, at 11:00a.m. Interment will be private at a later date.
Visiting hours will be on Wednesday 4 – 8p.m.

Reynolds, Walter F. , age 58, a former Medfield resident, died on Thursday, February 19, 2009, at his home in Stuart, Florida after a long illness.
Born in Natick, Wally was the son of Helen M. (Flynn) Reynolds of Fort Wayne, IN, and the late Walter F. “Pug” Reynolds, Jr. He was raised in Medfield and joined the U.S. Navy in June 1969 immediately after his graduation from Medfield High School. He served as a machinist’s mate aboard the USS Nashville until 1973.
Wally’s passion for cooking led him to many restaurant kitchens, including his own on Nantucket where he later was married. Wally was a builder and developer in the Medfield area for over twenty years. His love for being on the water led him to a second career as a charter boat captain. In 1995, he moved to Stuart, Florida and launched Big Katuna Charters. In addition Captain Wally also managed and maintained all components of many other vessels. For every boat Wally managed he became an invaluable resource and more importantly, a part of each owner’s family.
Past Commander of the Beckwith Post 110, American Legion, in Medfield, Wally also was devoted to mentoring with Big Brothers and Sisters in Stuart, FL.
He is additionally survived by his wife of 21years, Debbie (Melgard) Reynolds, three sisters, Cathline DeWitt and husband Pat of Fort Wayne, IN, Mary Hanna and husband David of Newton and Janette Reynolds of White Lake, MI, and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street, Medfield, on Tuesday, Feb. 24th at 10:00a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Vine Lake Cemetery.

Santucci, Angelo, age 80, a longtime resident of Medfield, died late on Monday, February 16, 2009, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
Born and raised Navelli, Italy, on July 7, 1928, he was a son of the late Giacinto and Maria (Ciullini) Santucci. He was married in 1953 and immigrated to Newton in 1955.
Mr. Santucci founded a landscape construction business in Newton, known as Angelo Santucci, Inc., in 1960. He had remained involved with the company until recently. An active member of St. Edward the Confessor Parish, he had also been a member of the Medfield Italian American Cultural Association and the Filippo Corsi Benevolent Society. Mr. Santucci loved the outdoors, gardening, dancing, and being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Elvira (Aloisio) Santucci, two daughters, Vilma N. Santucci of Medfield and Marian S. Boudreau and husband James of Norfolk, two sons, John G. Santucci and wife Mirella and Robert A. Santucci and wife Lauren of Medfield, one brother, Alfredo Santucci and wife Iole of Watertown, one sister, Sr. Anna Santucci of Italy, seven grandchildren, Amanda, Zachary, Alexandra, Erika, Stephanie, Cecelia, and Peter, and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Victoria, brothers Pio and Andrew Santucci, and sisters Giulia Corsi, and Antonietta Bonifacio.

Corbo, George A. Jr., age 77, a resident of Norfolk for over forty years, died unexpectedly on Sunday, February 15th, 2009 at his home.
Born in Boston on May 5, 1931, he was a son of the late George A. and Barbara (Taylor) Corbo. Mr. Corbo was raised in Needham and was a double eagle, having graduated from both B.C. High School and Boston College. He was a veteran of service with the U.S. Army.
Mr. Corbo was a self employed carpet installer for more than fifty years. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed skeet and trap shooting , fishing, listening to country music, and reading. He was a member of the NRA, the Medfield Sportsman’s Club and the Fin, Fur and Feather Club.
Predeceased by his wife Marjorie Ruth (O’Reilly) Corbo in 2007, he is survived by a daughter, Samantha Jane Corbo of Norfolk, a sister, Faith Casler of South Natick, and three brothers, William Corbo of NH, Robert “Joe” Corbo of Dover, and Jerome Corbo of CA.
A funeral service will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Friday, Feb. 20th at 2:00p.m. Burial will be private.

Sturgis, Robert Morse, age 70, a retired Sherborn special police officer, died peacefully at his Sherborn home on Friday afternoon, February 13, 2009.
Born in Boston on May 8, 1938, he was the son of the late George Putnam Sturgis, MD, and Harriet (Morse) Sturgis. He was raised in Brookline and was a graduate the Dublin School in Dublin, NH. He continued his education at Bentley College and Boston University.
Bob was married to the former Katharine “Kitty” Ray in 1960, and the couple settled in Sherborn in 1962. He had owned several lawn and garden businesses in the area until 1975. Thereafter he devoted himself to his passion for restoring antique and classic vehicles and taught introductory level classes on automotive repair and restoration through the Museum of Transportation in Brookline. After having served for many years as a special police officer in Sherborn, he joined the force full time in 1986 and remained active until his retirement ten years later.
Very active with the Town of Sherborn, Bob had served on the Fire Department, the Town Forest Committee, the Conservation Committee, and the Traffic Safety Committee. He was elected to sit on the Town Planning Board and, most recently, to serve as Town Constable. He had been a member of the Norfolk Lodge AF & AM of Needham, the Orient Lodge AF & AM of Norwood and the Aleppo Shrine in Wilmington. Bob had also been active with numerous automobile clubs. He had most enjoyed time spent with family at his homes in Sherborn and on Fishers Island in New York.
Predeceased by a son, George P. Sturgis, II, in 2007, he is survived by his wife Kitty, a son, Robert M. Sturgis, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Ashland, a daughter-in-law, Susanne Sturgis of Bellingham, a sister, Linda Ribeiro of Dover, six grandchildren, Alicia, Kristin, Stephanie, Heather, Morgan, and Benjamin, and two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Declan. He was also the brother of the late Harriet Smith Walker and Jean Webber.
A memorial service will be held at the Pilgrim Church, 25 South Main Street (Rte. 27), Sherborn, Saturday, Feb. 21st at 11:00a.m. Burial will be private.

McKinney, Gordon H. DDS, age 92, a resident of Dover for 43 years, died on Saturday afternoon, February 7, 2009, at Caritas Norwood Hospital in Norwood.
Born in Montreal, Canada, on June 25, 1916, he was a son of the late Hugh C. and Sarah E. (Lavery) McKinney. He graduated with a Degree in Dental Surgery from McGill University in Montreal and then served as a captain with the Royal Canadian Army in Britain during World War II. Dr. McKinney practiced dentistry in Montreal and then Boston prior to establishing a private practice in Weston. He remained in Weston until his retirement in 1985. He will be greatly missed by his family.
Predeceased by a son, Gordon H. McKinney, Jr., he is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia A. (Thompson) McKinney, two sons, David T. McKinney of Chino, CA, and Hugh C. McKinney and wife Jeanette of Idaho Falls, ID, and eight grandchildren: Fulton, Ethan, Wade, Cassandra, Rosalie, Rick, Marissa, and Jack.

Rossi Sr., Francis D., 68, a life long resident of Medfield, died on Friday, January 29th, 2008 after a lengthy battle with kidney disease.
Born November 7th, 1940 in Brighton, he was the son of the late Orlando and Rose (Santullo) Rossi and was a 1958 graduate of Medfield High School. Mr. Rossi subsequently served with the US Marine Corps.
Mr. Rossi was the owner and manager of the Frances Café on Frairy Street in Medfield from 1961 until 1979. He operated the Rossi Realty Corporation from 1979 until 1982, and in 1981 had started employment as a field supervisor with the Department of Revenue/Bureau of Local Assessment for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. After his retirement in 2001, he worked part time with Tresca Brothers until 2007.
A volunteer firefighter in Medfield from 1961 until 1971, Mr. Rossi had also been a member of the Medfield Lions, the Massachusetts Association of Assessing Officers, and the Massachusetts Retirees’ Association.
He most enjoyed being with his wife, family and friends, and spending time in Pompano Beach, Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carole A. (Mills) Rossi, four children, Francis D. Rossi Jr. and his wife Patricia of Ashland, Shirley M. Rossi-Roy of Medway, Diane R. Feldman and her husband David of Natick and Michelle A. Hughes and her husband Thomas of Milford, two sisters, Elizabeth M. Grady and her husband John of Medway and Donna M. Blades and her husband Ricky of Deltona, FL, four grandchildren, Rob Roy, Amanda Feldman, and Matthew and Rose Hughes, and many nephews, nieces and extended family.

Currier, Philip Stetson, age 77, a longtime resident of Framingham, died Thursday afternoon, January 29, 2008 at the Kathleen Daniel Nursing Home in Framingham.
Born in Cambridge on April 28, 1931, he was the son of the late Lester N. and Bertha M. (Stetson) Currier. He was raised in Brighton and was a graduate of the Boston Trade High School. He served with the United States Air Force from 1949 through 1953 and later earned his Bachelor’s degree in engineering at Northeastern University.
Mr. Currier was employed with General Electric on the North Shore for many years. He later transferred to GTE Sylvania in Needham where he remained until his retirement. He was a model train enthusiast and spent much time paying attention to detail and perfecting intricate designs in his own models or helping others with theirs. He made many friends who shared his hobby and had been featured in and contributed to periodicals on the subject.
A resident of Framingham for the past 35 years, Mr. Currier was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Eleanor (Carmichael) Currier, this past September. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Marilyn R. Geddes and her husband Robert of Millis.

Granger, Robert, age 46, a lifelong resident of Walpole, died early Monday morning, January 26, 2009, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Born on May 15, 1962, he was a beloved son of Ernest A. and Mary F. (Moran) Granger of Walpole. Bob had been educated in Walpole prior to graduating from the Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School in Franklin. He had been employed since 1981 with Lifeworks Employment Services of Norwood.
Bob enjoyed many activities, particularly listening to music, playing the drums, tap dancing, reading, surfing the internet, and traveling.
Predeceased by his sister, Jeanette M. Andreotti, he is survived by his parents, a brother, Michael A. Granger and partner Brian P. Rooney of Jamaica Plain, a nephew and niece, Steven and Leah Andreotti of Brunswick, ME, his Godparents, Geraldine and Robert Dobija of Norwood, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Yered, Robert James Sr., age 69, of Millis, died suddenly on Monday evening, January 26, 2009 at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.
Born in Boston on December 2, 1939, he was a son of George J. Yered of Needham and the late Dolores J. (Matchett) Yered. He was raised in Jamaica Plain and was a graduate of Boston Trade High School. Mr. Yered joined the Coast Guard in 1957 and was stationed at the Boston Coast Guard Station.
Deployed to Viet Nam in 1967, he was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action for an act which averted not only the total destruction of his own ship but also that of the US Army Terminal in Cat Lai on February 18, 1968. He returned to Boston following his tour and remained with the Coast Guard until his retirement as a Chief Engineman in 1977. Among his other awards and citations were the Vietnam Service Medal with 4 bronze stars and a Purple Heart Medal.
Mr. Yered oversaw the Coast Guard Hobby Shop from 1977 through 1981, when he accepted employment with the Dover-Sherborn Public Schools. He was currently the Director of Grounds at the high school. He was a longtime member of the VFW Post 2498 in Needham and had enjoyed going to flea markets.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 48 years, Virginia J. (Caulfield) Yered, a son, Robert J. Yered, Jr. and wife Marie of Woonsocket, RI, a daughter, Lori A. Geddis and husband Jim of Whitinsville, two brothers, Frank Yered of Medway and George J. Yered, Jr. of Millis, a sister, Sarahjane Adams of Needham, and three granddaughters, Alyssa, Shayna, and Bryanna.

Sproul, Tracy Ann, age 48, a former Medfield resident, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 24, 2009, at her home in Danville, CA.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, she was a daughter of James A. “Doc” and Hope E. (Lucy) Sproul of Medfield. She was a 1978 graduate of Medfield High School and continued her education at Boston College where she earned a degree in computer science.
Tracy had specialized in communications throughout her career and had been employed with Data General, Bell South, Pacific Bell, and most recently, AT&T. She enjoyed skiing and travel and devoted much of her time to keeping up with friends all around the country. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, Tracy is survived by two sisters, Hope L. Baldwin of Springfield, OH, and Faith S. Aliprando and husband Vic of Atlantic Beach, FL, many nieces and nephews, extended family and many many friends.

Willis, John C. II , age 52, died on Saturday, January 17, 2009, at his Mansfield home.
Born in Norwood on September 27, 1956, he was a son of Mildred E. (Boyden) Willis of Medfield and the late John C. Willis. He was a 1974 graduate of Medfield High School and continued his education at the University of Rhode Island. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacology at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Mr. Willis was employed as the director of pharmaceutical manufacturing at Collegium Pharmaceuticals in Cumberland, RI. He had been a resident of Norton for several years prior to settling in Mansfield fourteen years ago. A long time member of the Azure Lodge AF & AM of Walpole, he was also a member of the Medfield Acacia Club and the NRA. He had been an Eagle Scout and enjoyed sailing.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by three children, John C. Willis III, Joshua M. Willis, and Nicole A. Willis, all of Norton, and two brothers, Scott B. Willis of Pearl River, NY, and Christopher J. Willis of Boston.
His funeral will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, Thursday, Jan 22nd at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow at Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield.

Govers, George Reed, age 79, a longtime resident of Medfield, died on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at his home.
Born in New Rochelle, NY, on August 28, 1929, he was the son of the late George and Isabel (Dixon) Govers. He was a 1947 graduate of Amherst High School in Amherst and earned a degree in business from Boston University. Mr. Govers served as a Sergeant with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Govers was employed for 35 years with Kerr Manufacturing of Romulus, Michigan as a sales representative for dental supplies. He retired in 1996. A family man, he enjoyed camping, their Cape Cod cottage, reading, and working on repairs and projects at home.
Beloved husband of Betty R. (Simmons) Govers, he is survived by two daughters, Sharon M. Alemany, and husband Scott of Saunderstown, RI, and Sandra J. Anderson and husband David of Norton, and five grandchildren, Matthew, Mark, and David Alemany, and Tyler and Rachel Anderson.
His funeral service will be at the United Church of Christ, 496 Main Street, Medfield, Wednesday January 21st at 11:00a.m. Burial will be private.

Goularte, Gertrude (Kelley), 93, of Medfield, died Sunday Morning, January 11, 2008 at Riverbend of South Natick.
Born in Amherst, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Theresa (Coogan) Kelley. Mrs. Goularte was educated in the Amherst public schools graduating with the class of 1933 and continued her education at Northampton Commercial College where she graduated in 1935. After graduating from college she worked for several years at the University of Massachusetts (formerly Massachusetts State College)/Stockbridge Alumni Office in Amherst before her marriage.
A long time resident of West Roxbury, she worked for many years as a part time bookkeeper/accountant for the former Parkway Furniture Store in West Roxbury. Mrs. Goularte was very devoted to her family and active in her church and community. Her hobbies included gardening, dancing and cooking.
Wife of the late George Thomas Goularte, with whom she was married for 63 years, she leaves 2 sons, Paul T. Goularte of New York, NY, and Richard G. Goularte of Stow, MA, a daughter Terry G. Taylor and her husband Michael of Medfield, MA, a brother Thomas Kelley of Tucson, AZ, and a grandson Tucker Chase Taylor also of Medfield.

Kane, Dorothy, 94 of Foxborough, MA formally of Medfield, MA passed away on January 10, 2009 at the Doolittle Home.
Dorothy was born September 27, 1914 in Medfield, MA. She graduated high school in 1925 and continued her education at the New England Conservatory in Boston, MA where she began her career in dance. She danced Vaudeville in Chicago, IL and traveled with dance companies teaching ballroom and tap. Later she and her husband square danced for 30 years and were the founders of the Medfield Scrambled Eights Square Dance Club.
She and Howard were married December 27, 1941 in Medfield, MA at the First Parish Unitarian Church. She was active in church functions and taught Sunday school many years. As well as her passion for dance, she was active in Girl Scouts for 50 years, earning the honor of the Golden Eaglet. She was a troop leader, camp director, and council president. She was also a member of the Medfield Historical Society; DAR; Norfolk County Extension Service and Medfield Home Committee. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing and watching Lawrence Welk. Her other hobbies were stamp collecting and genealogy.
She is survived by her husband Howard of 67 years who resides in Foxborough, MA; a daughter Linda Terpak of Beatrice, NE; a grand daughter Julie Trout and two great grand daughters Taylor and Katie Trout all of Omaha, NE, a sister Virginia VanderPyl and her husband John of Seattle, WA; and two sister-in-laws; Gloria Johnson of Cotuit, MA, and Cecilia Kane of Plano, TX, as well; as seven nieces and seven nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard E. and, Jennie L. (Taber) Johnson, a brother Winthrop Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Chapel, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, MA on Thursday January 15th, 2009 @ 11:00AM. Burial will follow in the family lot at Vine Lake Cemetery also in Medfield, MA.
Those wishing to visit with the family may do so from 10 to 11AM prior to the funeral service.

Christie, Ramon J., 72, of Millis where he has been a resident since 1967, died unexpectedly, January 1st, 2009 at the MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham.
Born November 12, 1936 in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Arthur and Maria (Nixt) Christie. Jerry was a graduate of Scituate High School with the class of 1957. He attended Mass Maritime Academy and then served in the Army National Guard at Fort Bliss in Texas. He studied Electrical Engineering at Northeastern University as well as Wentworth Institute.
Formerly of Newton, he retired in 1993 from the Parker Hannifin Corporation where he was employed for over 32 years as a Quality Engineer.
Jerry was a family man who adored his wife, his children and grandchildren. He was a storyteller; he also enjoyed gardening, photography, music, cars, watching the Patriots, traveling and appreciated a good sense of humor.
Husband of Liane (Bouchard) Christie, he also leaves a daughter, Janice L. Costa and her husband Charles of Millis, 2 sons, A. Stephen Christie and his wife Christine of Canton and Kevin J. Christie and his wife Robin of Millis, a sister Margaret J. Walkuski of Bellerose, NY, a brother Arthur J. Christie of Scituate, MA and his late brother Thomas J. Christie of Eliot, ME and 6 grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob and Lauren Costa, Jason and Brianna Christie and Colin Christie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 6th at 11:00AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis.

Bond, George W., age 85, of Medfield, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at the Medway Country Manor Nursing Home in Medway. He was the husband of Beverly (Parker) Bond.
George was born and raised in Bathurst, New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Cora and Benjamin Bond. In 1946 he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Brunswick. Until the end of World War II, he trained as a member of the Royal Canadian Engineers.
George’s career in engineering and management included several Plant Manager assignments in Quebec, Ontario and Illinois. In 1975, his final manufacturing assignment at GAF Materials in Millis brought George and Beverly to their home in Medfield, Massachusetts. After he retired from manufacturing, George and Beverly continued to stay professionally involved with their real estate investments. George had been active in the communities in which he lived.
George is missed and fondly remembered by his wife Beverly, his daughters Charlotte and Deborah, his sons Trace and Chris, and all of their families including eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at the United Church of Christ, 496 Main Street (Rte. 109) Medfield, on Wednesday, Jan. 7th at 11:00a.m.

Mighton, Arlene E. (Barrett), 90, of Carlisle, PA, a former life long resident of Millis, died December 29, 2008 at her home in Carlisle. Known as Dolly her entire life, she was the wife of the late Samuel G. Mighton who died in 1975.
Born in Norwood, MA, she was the daughter of the late Royden and Lillian (Garland) Barrett. She was educated in the Millis Public Schools.
A long time resident of Millis, she moved to Pennsylvania in May 2004 to live with her daughter and family. She belonged to the Church of Christ, Congregational, in Millis where she sang in the choir, was a trustee and served on numerous committees. She also belonged to the Millis Chorale and the Potpourri Garden Club and volunteered at the Millis Library and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed gardening, birding, the Red Sox and her beloved dogs.
Dolly is survived by her daughters, Cherilyn Ames and her husband Roger of San Mateo, CA, Arlene Mighton of Raleigh, NC, and Janette Kohler and her husband James of Carlisle, PA, and a daughter in law Margaret W. Mighton of Hopkinton. She was preceded in death by sons Karl B. and Timothy M., daughter Judith Boyd, sisters Muriel Marshall of California, Evangeline Tupper of New Jersey, brothers Karl, Kenneth, Royden (Boots) and Richard (Dick) Barrett all of Millis, MA.
Also survived by her grandchildren, Samuel, Henry and Hannah Kohler of Carlisle, PA; grandchildren David Boyd and Nikki Shears of Norcross, GA, and great grandson, Blake Shears of Norcross.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3rd at 11:00am at the Church of Christ, Congregational, 142 Exchange St, Millis,
followed by burial at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Millis. Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 on January 2 at Roberts Mitchell Funeral Home, 90 Curve St, Millis.

Dundon, Sinon J., of Millis, a former longtime resident of Roslindale, died on Saturday morning, December 20, 2008, at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Natick.
Born in Co. Clare, Ireland, on December 28, 1925, he was a son of the late Martin and Ellen (O’Connell) Dundon. He was raised and educated in County Clare, and immigrated to Dorchester as a young man. Mr. Dundon served with the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War.
He married the former Ellen Hurley on June 2, 1956, and the couple settled within a few years in Roslindale. Employed with Finast Food Stores (later First National), Mr. Dundon had worked for the company in various locations in the Boston area throughout his career. He remained active during his retirement by working part time with Roche Bros in Millis until August of 2007.
Mr. Dundon and his wife had been instrumental in starting the Irish Association in West Roxbury. For many years they would co-host monthly dances with the group held at the Holy Name Parish Hall. He had been an active member of Holy Name Parish and after his move to Millis in 2001, was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. He is remembered as a thoughtful, quiet man whose great loves were his family and his faith.
Predeceased by his wife in 1996, he is survived by four daughters, Mary G. Mitchell and husband Tom of Millis, Ellen A. Ring and husband Wayne of Norwood, Margaret N. Ward and husband Gene of Medway, and Kathleen M. Palmer and husband Michael of Natick, two sons, Joseph P. Dundon of Milford and John T. Dundon and wife Patricia of Marlboro, two sisters, Mary Goguen of Newton and Kathleen Donahue of England, four brothers, Thomas Dundon and wife Marie of Dover, Peter Dundon and wife Ann Marie of Medfield, Michael Dundon and wife Bridget of Dedham, and Ned Dundon and wife Maura of Ireland, eighteen grandchildren, Alexander, Elizabeth, Christine, Casey, Christopher, Kayla, Brittany, Melissa, Nichole, Megan, Justin, Evan, McKenzie, Brandon, Brianna, Shannon, Matthew, and Colin, a Goddaughter, Susan Dundon, and many nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late John Dundon and Martin Dundon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis, on Tuesday, Dec. 23rd at 10:00a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. Nyren, Mark A., age 51, a former resident of Medfield, died on December 15, 2008, at his home in Carrollton, TX.
Born in Natick on May 29, 1957, he was a son of Paul and Mary (Picard) Nyren of Medfield. He was a member of the Medfield High School Class of 1975 and later graduated cum laude from Suffolk University.
Mr. Nyren had been a resident of Texas for the past 25years. He was a self employed landscaper and had been active for many years with the Grace Outreach Center in Plano.
He is survived by his daughter, Hannah Nyren of Plano, TX, his parents, Paul and Mary (Picard) Nyren of Medfield, one sister, Gail Carey of Hopkinton, seven brothers, Paul Nyren, Jr. of Northport, ME, Dennis Nyren Lake Forest, IL, Stephen Nyren of Millis, David Nyren of Medway, Donald Nyren of Medfield, Michael Nyren of Austin, TX, and John Nyren of Medfield, and eighteen nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Barry Nyren.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street, Medfield, on Saturday, Dec. 20th at 11:00a.m.
Burial at Vine Lake Cemetery will be at a later date.

Bodozian, Helen, age 84, a long time Medfield resident, died on Sunday morning, December 14, 2008, at the Thomas Upham House in Medfield.
Born in Whitinsville on May 18, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Mugar and Mary (Almasian) Karagosian. She was a 1942 graduate of Watertown High School and was married to Harry Bodozian on November 2, 1947. The Bodozians made their home in Watertown prior to settling in Medfield in 1951.
Mrs. Bodozian was first and foremost a wife, mother, and grandmother. She presided over a warm and welcoming home where she’d be called “Mrs. B.” or “Nice Auntie Helen” by the many friends and relatives who enjoyed her hospitality. She had been very active with the Medfield Council on Aging and often volunteered at the Senior Center.
Predeceased by her husband in 1992, she is survived by her daughter, Louise Helen Bodozian of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, two sons, Harry Stephen Bodozian and wife KimberlyAnn and Michael Harry Bodozian and wife Victoria all of Medfield, her sister, Aurora Bridges of Watertown and four grandchildren, Harry Leonard Bodozian, Angela Joy Bodozian, Tori Elizabeth Bodozian and Jack Michael Bodozian.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 18th at 11:00AM at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Chapel, 15 Miller St., Medfield.

Welch, Mary A. (Downing), 95, of Millis where she has been a life long resident, died after a brief illness on Friday afternoon, December 12th, 2008 at the Thomas Upham House in Medfield.
Born in the Dorchester section of Boston, she was the daughter of the late Richard F. and Mary E. (Cassidy) Downing. Mary was a 1931 graduate of the Millis Public Schools and a 1935 graduate of Regis College in Weston.
Having formerly retired in 1981, Mary’s whole life was dedicated to teaching, and spent her entire career with the Millis School System which began in 1935.
A life long communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Mary’s true love was teaching. She continued to volunteer her time and talents to the school kids teaching and reading to the first graders long after her retirement. She also loved golf playing and for many years was a member of the Charles Golf League.
Wife of the late Frederick J. Welch, she leaves two sons, William F. Welch and his wife Maureen of Milford and John D. Welch and his wife Kathleen of Hudson, FL, three sisters Agnes E. Lydon of Millis, Ann L. Holmquist of Mashpee and Alma Mulkern of Norwood, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Two sisters Rita Gately and Eileen McCarthy and two brothers John T. and Richard J. Downing Jr. predeceased her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, December 16th, 2008 at 10:00AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis.

Watson, Gary Robert, 56, of Wrentham where he has been a resident for over 50 years, died Thursday, December 11th at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
Formerly of Millis, he was born in Needham, and was the son of the late Clayton J. and Francis E. (DuBois) Watson. He is survived by his sister Jeanette Robinson and her husband Paul of No. Kingstown, R.I. He is predeceased by his brother Richard Watson.

Shiels, Leo G., age 76, of West Palm Beach, FL and Centerville, a former longtime Medfield resident, died on Wednesday morning, December 10, 2008, at Palm Beach Gardens Hospice in Palm Beach Gardens.
Born in Medfield on April 1, 1932, he was a son of the late Jerome and Jessica (McFadden) Shiels. Following his graduation from Medfield High School, he served with the U.S. Army in Germany.
Mr. Shiels began his career working with Palumbo Liquors in Medfield. He became a regional salesman with Considine Liquors of Rhode Island for several years and later held a similar position with United Liquors of West Bridgewater. He retired in 1997.
After his retirement, Mr. Shiels and his wife split their time between their homes in Florida and Centerville on Cape Cod. He was a past commander of the Beckwith Post 110 American Legion in Medfield and member of the Cpl. Stephen Hinkley VFW Post 6644. An enthusiastic softball player for many years, he also enjoyed playing horseshoes and cards with friends. His favorite role was that of a doting grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude (Brooks) Shiels, three sons, Tom Shiels of Bellingham, Dan Shiels and wife Jean of Norfolk, and Ron Shiels of Holliston, two daughters, Diane Bettencourt and husband A.J. of Stewart, FL, and Karen Bossio and husband Brian of Barnstable, a sister, Margaret Newton of Medway, two brothers, James Shiels and wife Grace of Walpole and Peter Shiels and wife Marie of Medfield, and thirteen grandchildren; David, Brian, Lisa, Justin, Sarah, Matt, Colin, Makayla, Tyler, Brandon, Brittany, Shawn, and Allison. He was also a brother of the late Mary Whitney.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street, Medfield, on Monday, Dec. 15th at 10:00a.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Vine Lake Cemetery.

Sabbag, Walter Z., age 82, a former long time resident of Medfield, died on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at his Walpole home.
Born in Boston on January 29, 1926, he was one of nine children of the late Joseph and Leza (Deraney) Sabbag. He had attended Boston English High School prior to serving with the Army Air Corps as a Staff Sergeant with 44th flying eightballs during World War II.
Mr. Sabbag settled in Medfield in 1953. He was a member of the Iron Workers Union and had worked on construction projects in the greater Boston area throughout his career. He had also been a member of the Medway Masonic Lodge for many years.
A private graveside funeral is planned.

Portmann, Elmer O. Jr., of Medfield, where he has lived for over 45 years, died Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Newton Wellesley Hospital in Newton, surrounded by his family. He was 81.
Born in Amherst, Ohio, he was the son of the late Elmer O. and Gertrude (Kneisel) Portmann Sr. He was a 1944 graduate of Henrietta High School, in Henrietta, OH and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, OH, in 1950.
Mr. Portmann retired in 1990 from Liberty Mutual Insurance Co., as the Assistant Vice President, Head of Special Claims, having worked on many high profile cases such as the Three Mile Island accident. He was a member of the American Legion, Beckwith Post 110, in Medfield and the 1996-1997 Lions Club, Citizen of the Year. Very active in the Town of Medfield, he had served on the Warrant Committee for 6 years, 2 of which he was the Chairman. A member of the Permanent School Planning and Building Committee for the High School renovation project, he could often be seen at the polls in Medfield where he served as a Warden for many years. A very active member of the United Church of Christ in Medfield, he had served as the collector and treasurer for many years, as well as the Treasurer of the Friends of the Dwight-Derby House. He received the honor of having the Medfield Selectmen proclaim April 28, 1998 as “Elmer O. Portmann Jr. Day”. He was also a U.S. Army, WWII Veteran.
Devoted husband of 54 years to Jessie C. (Howe) Portmann, whom he married on June 26, 1954, he was the loving father of Debra S. Portmann of Jamaica Plain, Edwin A. Portmann and his wife Meghan of Medway, David H. Portmann and his wife Mary Ann of Corinth, ME, Joel F. Portmann and Melissa McBeath of Tucson, AZ, and Brian J. Portmann and his wife Susan of Millis. He was the brother of Phyllis Moser of Bluffton, OH, and the late Lois Kleve and A. Frederic Portmann. He is also survived by his granddaughters Justine M., Jocelyn M., and Janelle M. Portmann of Corinth, ME, and Celina March O’Connor of Medfield.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the United Church of Christ, 496 Main Street, Medfield at 11AM.

Flynn, Janet M. (Cleary), age 69, a former resident of Medfield and Falmouth, died on Tuesday morning, December 2, 2008, at Harrington House in Walpole.
Born in Boston on February 28, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Mone) Cleary. She was raised in West Roxbury, was a graduate of Roslindale High School, and continued her education at secretarial school in Boston.
Married to George J. Flynn in 1962, she made homes for her family in West Roxbury and Wheaton, Illinois, prior to settling in Medfield in 1971. Mrs. Flynn ran the cafeteria of the Medfield Junior High School for several years and then became an executive assistant with Tyco Health Care in Medfield. In 1995, she accepted a position with BJ’s corporate offices. She and her husband retired to Falmouth in 2003.
Mrs. Flynn loved the company of her family and a close knit group of friends. She had looked forward to weekends and vacations in Falmouth during her working years and had been fond of Irish music. She most enjoyed visits with her two granddaughters.
Predeceased by her husband in 2005, she is survived by a son, Richard D. Flynn of Norristown, PA, a daughter, Susan F. Curtis and her husband Michael C. M. Curtis of Walpole, and their daughters, Emily F. and Tessa J. Curtis. She was also the Godmother of Kara Devereaux and sister of the late Richard M.J. Cleary and Nancy Devereaux.

Lane, Catherine V. (Holt), age 88, of Bellingham, formerly of Holliston and Sherborn, died on Sunday, June 1, 2008, at the Milford Regional Medical Center.
Born in Millis on March 5, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Frank J. and Annie A. (Fisher) Holt. She was a 1938 graduate of Millis High School and later married Edward Francis Lane.
Mrs. Lane made a home for her family for twenty-seven years in Sherborn where she was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Parish and a member of the Charles F. Duford Post #47 American Legion Auxiliary. She moved in 1978 to Holliston where she resided until relocating in 1995 to Bellingham. Her greatest passion was spending time with her large extended family. She also enjoyed her work at Ashland Manor as a cook, and Kathleen Daniels House as a housekeeper.
Wife of the late Edward Francis Lane, she is survived by three sons, Edward F. Lane Jr. of Marlborough, and Thomas M. Lane and Kenneth P. Lane, both of Bellingham, four daughters, Kathleen McLaughlin, Mary E. Karcher, Maureen Lane, Nancy A. Wood, and her son in law Larry P. McLaughlin all of Bellingham, four sisters, Barbara Harris and Joan Sarah, both of Milford, and Rita Bagdasarian and Therese Perciaccante, both of Millis, 15 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandson. She was also the sister of the late Mary Frye, Margaret Keenan, Joseph Holt and Frank Holt Jr.

Gudaitis, Patrick Donald, age 24, a Medfield resident since 1987, died suddenly Thursday morning, March 20, 2008, at his home.
Born in Washington Township, New Jersey, on August 25, 1983, Patrick was the son of Donald J. and Michelle (D’Onofrio) Gudaitis of Medfield. He was a 2002 graduate of Medfield High School. Patrick studied at Bridgewater State College and Wentworth Institute of Technology toward a degree in Construction Management. He had since been employed as a contract carpenter in the Greater Boston and MetroWest areas.
Patrick had an enthusiasm for music and playing guitar. He enjoyed working with and building computers and also found much enjoyment snowboarding.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Holly M. Gudaitis of Somerville, his maternal grandparents, William and Gladys (Barcel) D’Onofrio of Monroe Township, NJ, his paternal grandmother, Ellen M. (Sullivan) Gudaitis of Ringwood, NJ, his aunts and uncles, Denise Casey of Easton, PA, Maria and Bob Ferguson of East Brunswick, NJ, Susan and Tom Morton of Ringwood, NJ, Karen and Joe Alfieri of Manahawkin, NJ, and Christine Gudaitis of Miami Beach, FL, and many cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Donald J. Gudaitis, Sr.
